Perivale Sound Radio - Your Internet Radio
Perivale Sound Radio A Brief History
In The Beginning
On 25th August Perivale Sound was launched by Mark Witham, the founder and CEO. It hadn't got a formulated schedule but eventually Mark devised one and has since changed it many times while experimenting with different musical genres and times.
During this time Mark decided that a new name would be better and so sometime in December 2018 Perivale Sound became Perivale Sound Radio, the name you are all familiar with today.
It took many attempts to get the correct show names and times and over the course of 18 month approximately, the familiar schedule was born.
From the very first year Perivale Sound Radio has devised a Christmas schedule which gets published about one week before Christmas.
On Sundays we present two shows aimed at being relaxing and easy on the ears. Also during the early show we have 1 hour of hymns. It was always our aim to carry a religious section on Sundays.
Even today the schedule is not fixed and can be changed by poll on the Group Page or unilaterally by the CEO if the change is needed or by popular request. Listeners can ask anytime for a certain type of show or genre of music.
The Station
The station plays music from the 1960's, 1970's, 1980's, 1990's and occasionally more up to date years.
There is a good selection of genres which means there should be something for everyone. Genres included are: Country, Irish, Pop, Rock, Religious and occasionally Classical.
The schedule is split into two parts which are Early Afternoon: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 12:00pm - 3:00pm. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 2:00pm - 4:00pm. Evening: Monday to Saturday 9:00pm - Midnight Sunday 11:00pm - 12:30am (See Schedule for full details).
The Early Afternoon shows are non decade tied and therefore, music can be from any of the decades we feature. On Mondays we present a magazine show which contains news items from the headlines and weather forecasts for the Perivale and surrounding areas.
The Early Afternoon shows have different "themes" and have some non presenter shows. For example Express Lunch and Irish Mist are both AutoDJ (No Presenter Present except for introduction and endpiece).
Shows like Rush Hour and Weekend Party are by design fast moving with very little interaction from the presenter.
The Music
In the beginning we could only present our shows in MP3 format. As a vinyl orientated station we took on vinyl playing equipment and it is our aim to present shows using vinyl records more often than of now.
We present 4 formats of music being MP3, Vinyl, Streamed and Direct Access from video streams.
The evening shows are mainly decade dedicated with a country presentation on Tuesdays. On Saturdays we present a party type show with a mix of music so that the listener can get to their feet to have a dance or a well meaning jig around, if they so wish.
On Sunday evening at 11:00pm there's a downtempo/ambient music presentation which should help the listener to relax and unwind ready for Monday. It has been known for listeners to actually fall asleep because of this show.
The main genres of the station are: Irish, Pop, Rock, Country, Religious and occasionally Classical.
Though the station doesn't normally accept requests during a broadcast, we will consider a request if notice of at least 1 week, is given please. The request should carry the person's name, the occasion and the song title, if possible the artist/group/band name. You may request for yourself if you wish.
Mission Statement
Perivale Sound Radio makes its mission to serve you the listeners. We do this by listening to the listener, playing the music you want to hear. If enough listeners request a change then we endeavour to do one of two things 1) To generate a poll on the Group Page or 2) Make an Executive decision to make the necessary change(s) to achieve the desired result. Polls normally run for a minimum of a week and the option that gets the majority votes is the one that we implement. In the event of a tie the CEO has casting vote rights. While the CEO has casting vote rights, the CEO doesn't take part in any of the polls. Our primary mission is to serve you! NO major changes can take place without the proposed change(s) being referred to the Group Members by way of a poll. Should you wish to join the Group we have a Facebook Group Page and this can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Perivale.Sound.Radio
Everyone is welcome no matter what your background is. We have a very strong policy against racism, bullying, or discrimination of ANY kind. You should feel safe while you are a member. If you suffer ANYTHING that you don't like, please reach out to a Moderator or Administrator. Finally, there are a set of rules and we encourage everyone that joins the group to read them.
ALL times quoted in the schedule below are for the United Kingdom.
